The Shadow of a Gunman by Sean O’Casey.Â
“…what danger can there be in being the shadow of a gunman?”
In Sean O’Casey’s vibrant and poignant classic comedy, Donal Davoren wrestles with his poetry as he struggles to find peace in a crowded Dublin tenement. Outside, Ireland descends into a vicious guerrilla war.
Donal’s neighbours believe he is a gunman on the run. Local girl Minnie Powell takes a romantic shine to him which encourages Donal to play along. However, when the city is placed under curfew, his fantasy starts to feel uncomfortably real.
Wayne Jordan (The Plough and the Stars, Twelfth Night) returns to the plays of Sean O’Casey to direct this exciting co-production between the Abbey Theatre and the Lyric Theatre.
3 May – 06 June | £15 – £24.50……. at the Lyric Theatre, Belfast.
