SOUTH DOWN MLA for South Down Seán Rogers has said today’s cross party meeting in the Dáil, which discussed the US Immigration Bill, demonstrates the appetite for reform of the US Immigration System on this Island.
Mr Rogers said: “I was delighted to attend today’s cross-party meeting in the Dáil which highlighted the plight of the undocumented Irish in America and how immigration reform could transform their lives.
“We agreed an action plan to continue to highlight the needs of many of our loved ones who are disadvantaged by the current immigration system.
“While the US Senate has endorsed sweeping immigration legislation the bill has not yet come to the House of Representatives. Politicians across this Island are united in wanting to see this progressive legislation voted through.
“I would appeal to those whose lives would be transformed if this law was passed to contact their relevant congressman and ask them to support this piece of legislation.”
