Wardens shortlisted as Best Independent Store in UK in the Excellence in Housewares Awards
Strangford MP Jim Shannon has expressed his pride that Newtownards’ very own `Warden Brothers` has been selected as a finalist in the Excellence in Houseware Awards.
Warden Brothers has been selected as a finalist in the `Best Independent Department Store` category at the Excellence in Housewares Awards.
These prestigious awards celebrate the very best UK retailers across the homeware sector. The winners of each category will be announced at a glittering awards ceremony on Wednesday the 30th of September 2026 at the Royal Lancaster Hotel in London.

Jim Shannon MP, on hearing the news, said: “It is fantastic to hear that Wardens has been selected as a finalist in this year’s Excellence in Houseware Awards.
“It is always such an encouragement to hear of the success of local businesses, and this recognition is made all the more special as Wardens approaches its 150th anniversary.
“Wardens has certainly stood the test of time, which I can testify is a reflection of the excellent customer service provided by its staff and the quality of the products Wardens sells.
“It is wonderful to see that the business has remained within the Warden family and hearing how the business has passed down through generations makes this nomination all the more meaningful.
“I hope the whole team, alongside the people of Newtownards, can take great pride in seeing the Warden Brothers’ name alongside well-known retailers such as Fortnum & Mason and Harrods.
