UKIP representative Alan Lewis has called on Roads Service to lower the speed limit through Seaforde village.

He said: “The speed limit through Seaforde is currently set at 40mph I believe this to be to high for a built-up residential area.

“Following calls from residents I made representations to Roads Service requesting the speed limit to be lowered to 30mph inline with other towns and villages in our district.

“I am disappointed that Roads Service have been reluctant to lower the speed limit quoting criteria and statistics as reasons, time and time again statistics are preventing necessary road safety improvements within this district.

“I believe Seaforde to be a growing village with an increasing population of young children lowering the speed limit is absolutely necessary for the safety of local residents.

“As a result I will be calling for an urgent meeting with Roads Service and the PSNI to discuss this matter.”
