Two Arrested In Ardglass On Suspicion Of Oil Theft

Police arrested two teenagers on suspicion of theft and recovered a number of twenty litre drums containing oil in the Ardglass area.

dn_screenJust before midnight on Thursday 1 May, police received a report of two people in a vehicle acting suspiciously in the area.

Police responded to the report and stopped the vehicle in the Hunter’s Way area of Ardglass. A total of fourteen drums full of oil were found in the car along with a number of wooden panels.

The two 17-year-olds arrested who were helping police with their initial enquiriesxa0have been released on police bail pending further enquiries.

Area Commander Chief Inspector Deirdre Bones, said: “I would like to take this opportunity to thank the members of the public who contacted police in relation to this matter. Thanks to you, local officers were able to respond and make these arrests. This is a great example of the local community and the police working together.”
