Trust Nurse of the Year Award

THE South Eastern Health & Social Care Trust ‘Nurse of the Year’ Award has been presented by the Chairman, Colm McKenna and Linda Kelly, Acting Director of Nursing to joint winners Paula Thompson and Rosie Kelly.

Paula is Ward Sister in Downe Dementia Unit and in addition to leading on a falls reduction project, Paula has transformed the care environment in the unit to ensure this is much more in keeping with person-centred dementia care.

Rosie is Clinical Manager in Paediatrics and was awarded for her vision and leadership in establishing a Neonatal Unit Outreach Team to meet the increasing demand for newborn babies requiring care from paediatric services.

A dedicated team has been formed and is leading the way in providing optimal management of babies requiring this level of care. Rosie has presented the positive outcomes of this work internationally.
