Traffic Controls For Kilkeel As Wastewater Work Gets Underway

As part of an overall £600,000 investment in a new sewerage infrastructure for the Ballymartin area, NI Water’s contractor will have in place temporary traffic light controls on the Newcastle Road, Kilkeel operating from Monday at 8am to Friday at 5pm during October. dn_screenThis method of traffic control is being used as it will significantly reduce the period of road works by 4-6 weeks allowing the road works to be finished before the end of October 2014. Only in exceptional circumstances would there be a requirement for extending the use of these traffic control measures into the weekend but the aim is for this not to happen. The contractor will be managing the control measures so as they are as effective as possible in dealing with traffic throughput. We would ask that drivers be patient and obey the signals. Vehicles travelling through red lights are not only dangerous, but also affect the sequencing of the lights and increase delays. NI Water would like to thank the public for their patience and cooperation while we complete this essential programme of work. Anyone with queries can call our Waterline number on 08457 440088 and quote ‘Ballymartin KS389. ‘
