Thieves Steal Large Batteries From Downpatrick Railway

dn_screenPolice are appealing for information following a theft at premises in the Market Street area of Downpatrick.

Inspector David McClements explained: “Sometime between 5.30pm on 3 October, and 11am on 4 October, a number of large industrial batteries were stolen from a yard at the Downpatrick and County Down Railway yard.

“The batteries are large and heavy and we believe a number of people would have been involved in removing them from the yard. Some form of transport would also have been required.

“Police are investigating and would appeal to anyone who was in the area and noticed any suspicious activity or who has any other information to contact police at Downpatrick station on the non-emergency number 101. Alternatively, information can be given to the Crimestoppers charity anonymously by telephoning 0800 555 111.”
