THE local Irish language group Glór Uachtar Tíre is delighted to announce that an Irish language youth club for secondary-level school children will be commencing on Wednesday the 20 March and it will be held every Wednesday thereafter during term time between 5.00-6.00pm.
Emer Hagan, said: “The youth club will take place in the main sports hall in St Malchay’s Highschool, Castlewellan and will be co-ordinated by three fluent Irish language, university students who are all trained and experienced youth leaders. They have drafted a very exciting plan for the weeks between now and summer including, sports, language games and short trips and they are also keen to include ideas from the youth club members themselves.
“The Youth club is fully registered with the South Eastern Education and Library Board and with the Irish Language group, Ógras. It will cost £10 membership at the outset and £1 per session.
This will be a great opportunity for teenagers in the area to take a bit of free time, and meet new people while practicing and improving their Irish. It provides a great chance for GCSE or AS, A2 Irish language students as well as those who attended the Bunscoil and have moved on the secondary level education. Bígí Linn gach Céadaoin, Come along on Wednesdays!”
