Strangford MP Shocked at Death of Comber Medic

STRANGFORD MP Jim Shannon has expressed his heartfelt sympathies to the family of the medic killed in Afghanistan who is from Comber.

He said: “When I heard the news I can say that my heart fell and I was just in shock. All I could think of was her saddened family not 10 minutes away from my office whose life would never be the same. I cannot even begin to imagine what they are going through at this time and I know that our whole community will rally behind them in anyway that they can.

“Only last week I attended a coffee morning for SSAFA and at that time I urged people to remember those who put their lives on the line for us in prayer and today I can only reiterate that our troops and most especially today, this family need our prayers.

“I will speculate as to how this has happened – there will be a thorough investigation of which I will ensure – but at this time I just feel overwhelmed for those who knew and loved this courageous young lady who gave her all in the Service for Queen and Country. In this time of their deepest grief and I would offer myself to help them in whatever way that I can.”
