St Patrick’s Day Parade Needs You !!

Kathy Black, the St Patriick’s  Day parade co-ordinator, is calling on local schools, clubs, groups and organisations in the wider Downpatrick area to take part in the festival parade. The theme this year is ‘carnival’, so everything goes!

And to grease the wheels Kathy is offering a £100 grant to all groups etc who participate.

The Saint Patrick’s Cross Community Carnival Parade

takes place on Sunday 17 March 2019 at 1pm. 

Last Call for places for organisations in the parade.

Kathy said: “As parade coordinator for the St.Patrick’s Day Parade this year, I am keen to engage with local groups, clubs, schools to come along and take part in the parade this year. The deadline is this Friday 15th February, and any groups who sign up to participate will receive £100 for taking part.

All organisations and groups wishing to participate in the Parade must:

*  Complete a Parade Registration Form (attached or online at:  https://www.saintpatrickscountry.com/Participate)

*  Read, understand and agree to theRules & Conditions of Entry.

“Non-commercial organisations participating in the parade will receive a fee of £100 on submission of invoice after the event.  In order for the Council to issue this payment please follow the procurement guidelines for registering your organisation if not previously registered on the Council’s e-hub system (copy enclosed).

“We will issue a Purchase Order number to confirm your participation in the St Patrick’s Day Parade.

“Please note the closing date for the receipt of completed registrations is Friday 15 February 2019 at 4pm.

“We are looking forward to a bumper parade this year and have a good selection of bands booked so far including four samba bands.

“In years gone by we have reached great number of over 20,000 people lining the streets enjoying the parade. The Downpatrick parade has always attracted the biggest crowd outside of Belfast and hopefully we will do that again this year.”
