St Malachy’s HS Pupils Excel In Irish Public Speaking

Irish Medium Students from St Malachy’s High School, Castlewellan took part recently in the annual Bunscoil an Iúir Irish Language Public Speaking competition in Gaeláras Mhic Ardghail in Newry.

Pupils at St Malachy’s High School in Castlewellan excel in Irish speaking.

The pupils had to prepare a three minute speech on, ‘The Importance of Irish to me in the Modern World.

There were two categories – Primary and Post Primary. Students are pictured with their teacher Miss Orla Flanagan and are (from left) Niamh Barry (Year 8), Brooklyn Flanagan (Year 10), xa0Eamonn Higgins (Year 8), Elisha Tumelty (Year 10) & Erin Stuart (Year 8).

A huge well done to Elisha who was delighted with obtaining 2nd place in the post primary section (second right).
