St John's GAA Notes For 4 January 2015

Congratulations to senior players Chris and Danny McKay who both featured for Down in their opening Dr McKenna Cup game against Cavan at Pairc Esler on Sunday writes Eugene O’Boyle.

dn_screenOn Saturday 27 December the club hosted the first of 3 nights showcasing the local talent from within the community featuring a number of local artists from across the parish. The next show will be held in the clubrooms on Saturday 31 January 2015 with a final night being held on Saturday 21 February 2015. Doors open at 8.30pm with the shows commencing at 9.30pm. Admission is £5.00 and light refreshments will be served.

The Action Cancer “Why Weight” programme starts on Tuesday 13 January 2015 at 6.30pm. It is ideal for everyone who has overindulged over the festive period. For further details contact Kevin McGlynn on 07835 960804 or see www.stjohnsgaa.co

New Irish Dancing classes start in St John’s GAC on Saturday 10 January 2015 at 10.00am. Boys and girls from age 4 upwards are welcome to come along. The Curran-Fegan School of Irish Dancing is part of An Comhdhail, one of the largest Irish Dancing organisations in Ireland and all of our teachers are fully qualified with many years of experience competing at the highest levels. Their dancers have also travelled to various countries such as Belgium, Hungary and Spain to perform at International Dance Festivals.

Tickets are still available for the Down GAA Clubs Draw 2015. You can get your ticket from any committee member or email gaastjohns@gmail.com. Tickets should be returned to any committee member or Stephen Magorrian (07966 428452) as soon as possible. The deadline has now passed for acceptance of direct debit tickets therefore get your ticket by cash or cheque by Monday 19 January. The first draw will be held on 7 February 2015. The club will be hosting The Cube gameshow on Saturday 7 March 2015 with teams made up of people from the local townlands battling it out in games that test the contestants ability, nerve and determination to win for their own townland! More details will be announced soon

Last weeks lotto numbers were 4, 7, 12 and 17. Denis Fegan, Angeline McCann, Sean Fitzpatrick, Jenny (c/o J Flynn) and Peter O’Higgins were £10 winners. Details of the new year lotto results will be in next weeks notes.
