St Coleman’s College Scoops An All-Ireland Title

Chairman Hosts Reception for All-Ireland Winners St Colman’s College, Newry.

The Chairman of Newry Mourne and Down District Council, Councillor Mark Murnin, hosted a reception to celebrate the success of the St. Colman’s College team in winning the Masita All-Ireland Paul McGirr Cup in Kinnegad on Saturday 30 March 2019.

Newry Mourne and Down District Council Chairman, Councillor Mark Murnin hosted a Civic Reception in the boardroom of the District Council Offices, Monaghan Row, Newry on Thursday 18 April 2019.

The reception was held to celebrate the recent success of the St Colman’s College GAA team in winning the Masita All-Ireland Paul McGirr Cup in Kinnegad on Saturday 30 March 2019. The final score was St Colman’s Newry 3-6, St Mary’s Knockbeg 0-14.

Congratulating the All-Ireland Winners, Councillor Mark Murnin said: “I am delighted to be able to join in the St Colman’s College celebrations and mark this historic occasion for the school.  Winning an All-Ireland title does not come easy.   Players have to be dedicated and committed to maintaining peak fitness and developing as a team and I can only imagine the time and effort put in to ensure this success could be achieved.”

“I also want to congratulate the Management Team for the time and effort they have put into helping the players to give their best. They should be proud of what they have done. Newry, Mourne and Down District Council has always endeavoured to promote all sports and to recognise achievement.  It gives me great pleasure therefore to extend my congratulations, on behalf of the Council I wish the College and their team continued success in the future.”

Chairman, Councillor Mark Murnin presented the winning All-Ireland team with an engraved plaque to commemorate and mark their achievement.
