Charity Cycle A group from the village are embarking on a charity cycle across Ireland in six weeks time. Martin and John McGinn and friends will be starting in Rostrevor and cycling to Bundoran, Co. Donegal in 1 day! That’s 175km or 110miles.

They are raising money and awareness for a two local children, James and Matthew Grant. In 2005, these two brothers were diagnosed with a very rare debilitating disease called Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, a condition that means they lack the dystrophin protein in their muscles and over time the muscles just waste away. The life expectancy for a sufferer of this disease is not very long. The guys are trying to do all they can to help raise money for research for a cure and also provide for the boys in their every day life. Find out more:

They need your support and donations to try to raise as much money as possible. The McGinn family have been very generous to the club over the years as most will be aware, so it would be nice to give something back to them through this charity cycle. This is NOT one of those challenges were they have to raise so much before qualifying to do it and all expenses come out of the donations!

ALL EXPENSES, FOOD, ACCOMMODATION, GEAR, SUPPORT VEHICLES, FUEL ETC ARE COVERED BY THE GUYS THEMSELVES – ALL YOUR DONATIONS GO STRAIGHT TO THE CHARITY!!! Those taking part: John McGinn, Martin McGinn, Ronan Turley (underage mentor), Roger Morgan, John Grant, Ciaran Farrell, Hugh Brennan, Frank Clerkin, Colm Clements, James MacMahon, Barry Tinnelly, Dr Henry McLaughlin, Kevin Morgan.

Autoline Scheme If your insurance is up for renewal don’t forget about the Autoline Scheme in connection with Rostrevor GAA. As current main club sponsors, any policy taken out with Autoline will benefit the club by way of a financial contribution. As well as this they will do their best to match or better your policy price! Get more info on the St Bronagh’s Gaa website.

Walking Club The now well established Walking Club is growing from strength to strength within the village. It is a great way to keep fit and healthy and to socialise with a bit of craic at the same time. The Walking Club meets every Tuesday at 7:30 at the Social Club. If you would like more info please contact Kerian Morgan or Richie Reynolds Secretary.rostrevor.down@gaa.ie . Who will be more than happy to help.
