Spa Road Issues Addressed Says Councillor Garth Craig

Following public interest in road safety at the Spa near Ballynahinch, DUP Councillor Garth Craig has called a meeting with the Roads Service.

Cllr. Garth Craig said: “I met with Hugh Morgan of Roads Service to discuss issues with the footpath leading up to the Hillside estate. The footpath surface was breaking up in places, and in other areas was very uneven.

“At two locations, poles carrying power lines were located in the centre of the footpath, making it impossible for wheelchair users and mothers with prams to pass the pole without dropping off the edge of the kerb on to the road.

“I am pleased that Roads Service have now agreed to drop the kerbs close to the poles, and to complete resurfacing works when budget permits.

“NIE have confirmed that they have no budget to relocate the poles, but would move them in the future when they upgraded the supply”.
