Enterprise Trade and Investment Minister Jonathan Bell has welcomed the £5.8million combined investment by 24 businesses in the southern region of Northern Ireland creating 110 new jobs.
Invest Northern Ireland has offered over £811,000 to support the growth of these businesses, which are based within the council areas of Newry Mourne and Down, Lisburn and Castlereagh and Ards and North Down.
Praising the commitment of the companies during a celebration event at Invest NI’s Newry office, Minister Jonathan Bell said: “The investment activities totalling over £5.8million signals the confidence of 24 businesses who are proactively seeking to grow and succeed in markets outside of Northern Ireland.
“This is positive news for the region and demonstrates Invest Northern Ireland’s commitment to supporting businesses in Newry Mourne and Down District Council, Lisburn and Castlereagh City Council and Ards and North Down Borough Council areas.
“The 110 new jobs, 35 of which are already in place, will generate over £2.8million annually in additional salaries for the local economy and offer valuable employment opportunities across a broad range of roles and sectors with average salaries of over £25,000.
“My Department and Invest Northern Ireland will continue to work with the councils across this region to encourage further growth among local businesses and help to make a positive impact on the lives of those in these communities.”
