The South Eastern HSC Trust has won a prestigious national awards for sustainable staff travel
The South Eastern Trust has been recognised for its commitment to sustainable commuting, winning the Sustainable Travel Team Best Practice Awardxa0at the national Commute Zero Hero Awards.
These awards celebrate outstanding achievements in sustainable commuting by workplaces across the United Kingdom.
The Trust’s Travel Planning Teamxa0was presented with the award for its dedicated efforts to reduce single-occupancy vehicle use and promote car-sharing.
Despite being a small team, it has made significant progress encouraging sustainable commuting practices across acute hospital sites.
Its comprehensive 2024 Travel Action Plan, developed using insights from employee surveys, has led to the creation of an incredible 203 Liftshare accounts.
The team has also successfully integrated car-sharing into parking permit applications and collaborated with multiple departments to promote active travel.
Its continuous engagement with stakeholders and commitment to embedding sustainability into daily operations has positioned the team as leaders in sustainable commuting.
The awards, hosted by climate tech provider Mobilityways, honour organisations and individuals who are implementing innovative commuting solutions to reduce carbon emissions and foster a culture of sustainability.
Among the winners were Heathrow Airport, West Sussex County Council, and University Hospitals Dorset.
