Down News has established that a telephone number advertised on an electronic notice board at the Belfast Road roundabout by the South Eastern HSC Trust for the Urgent Care Service was showing the wrong number.

The correct number for the Urgent Care Centre is 028 44 838091 as advertised on the Trust’s poster on their website, not 028 44 838092 as advertised on the electronic noticeboard.

The Urgent Care Centre (UCC) opened at 8am this Monday 19th October providing a range of services for the local area at the Downe Hospital in Downpatrick.

It is not an emergency centre, and operates on an appointment basis only. All emergencies should be called fro through the 999 service as normal.

The UCC is a measure taken by the Trust to maintain services whilst it is facing pressures due to the Covid-19 epidemic.

Given the sensitivities around the calls for the restoration of the 24/7 consultant led A&E at the Downe Hospital, health campaigners and many residents in the Downpatrick and wider area have been perturbed by this issue over the telephone numbers.

It is now resolved and the correct number is 028 44 838091.
