Sinn Féin MLA’s Caitriona Ruane and Chris Hazzard have said that Sinn Féin MEP Martina Anderson will visit South Down on Friday.
Ms Ruane said: “I am looking forward to having Sinn Féin MEP Martina Anderson in the constituency on Friday. Martina has been a strong supporter for the need of a new bridge at Narrow Water and Martina will again visit the site and meet local people in order to ensure that this campaign is brought to fruition.
“Martina has helped access funding for the bridge through the Special EU Programmes Body and there is a lot of other European funding that can be accessed so it is crucial we develop strategies with our MEP’s to access these.
Mr. Hazzard added: “I am delighted that Martina Anderson will be in the constituency for the day in order to meet with a wide range of people to discuss social and economic issues.
“More and more European laws affect the lives of people on the ground especially those in the farming and fishing industries so it is important that we have regular access to our MEP’s in order to ensure that our voice is heard.
“I intend to introduce Martina to as wide as range of people from the business, community and voluntary sectors so we can hear at first hand some of the issues that can be resolved through European intervention.”
