The Chairperson of Newry Mourne and Down District Council, Cllr Michael Savage, was delighted to attend the popular Skiffie Fest in Delamont Country Park at the weekend, the Strangford Lough Water Sports Festival.

Organised by the Down Coastal Rowing Association in association with the Council, this action-packed weekend involved international competitors and locals competing over a 2K course in their community-built St Ayle’s skiffs.

Councillor Michael Savage said speaking at the opening of the weekend event: “The Skiffie Festival is a key event within our district acting as a catalyst to inspire visitors to experience the beauty of our landscape and coastline.
