The highlight of the evening culminated in a presentation of congratulations from senior GAA and political figures from across Ireland, including Seán óg Óhaipin, Terence McNaughton and Gerry Adams.

Guests were treated to light refreshments whilst given the opportunity to reminisce down memory lane with contributions from guest speakers Sean Maginnis and Minister for Sports Carál Ni Chuilín.

Mr.Hazzard commented that the event had been a great success and highlighted the massive achievement of the team, particularly when you consider the small hurling base in the county.

He added: ‘The team, who we very much hope are successful in their replay of the Ulster Championship semi-final this weekend against Derry, are a credit to their communities and to this great sporting county.”
