Mourne’s Sinn Féin Councillors Sean Doran and Willie Clarke have welcomed the announcement by NI Water of the continuation of their £1.5 million investment in the sewerage system in the Ballymartin area.
It will run from the 9 September when work will commence to install a new line between the pumping station in Ballymartin and a new one at the Valley Road. Cllr Doran said: “This will effectually mean there will be no raw sewerage discharged into the sea at Ballymartin . Sinn Fein have been lobbying NI Water about this problem for a number of years and welcome this major investment in the lower Mourne area, this infrastructure is vital to our environment and our tourism sector.”
Councillor Clarke added: “The essential infrastructure improvements will cause inconvenience for local motorists, particularly commuters, we have been assured delays will be kept to a minimum, Councillor Doran and I will be meeting with NI Water, to monitor the works progress.”]]>
