Shop Local Says Ards And North Down Borough Council

Special Promotions Encourage Ards and North Down Shoppers to Support Local

Special promotions are available for shoppers across the Borough following the launch of a new ‘Support Local’ campaign by Ards and North Down Borough Council, in conjunction with the Department for Communities.

The last few years have been very challenging with many traders struggling due to the pressures associated with the pandemic as well as the cost-of-living crisis.

To help, the Council is encouraging people to support local businesses by shopping with them for their everyday purchases, meals out, short breaks, home improvements and more.

This will not only support local traders but also local jobs, businesses, and the communities throughout Ards and North Down.

Communities Minister, Gordon Lyons MLA, said: “The Ards and North Down Support Local campaign is an excellent initiative to provide much needed support for the city and towns across the Borough.

“It reinforces my Department’s commitment to the regeneration of our towns and cities.

“Local businesses in town and city centres continue to experience the negative impacts of changes in shopping habits, and the current cost of living.

“This campaign is a positive step in helping remind residents of the Borough and beyond, of the products and offers available in the city and town centres in the Ards and North Down Borough Council area.”

The Mayor of Ards and North Down, Councillor Jennifer Gilmour, said: “Right across the Borough, our traders offer real value for money through great products and personal service.

“Ards and North Down has so much to offer and when you choose to keep it local, you are helping to support local jobs and the local economy.

“Supporting local is a win-win for us all.”

Special promotions are being offered by a number of local businesses to encourage shoppers to ‘support local’.

From food and drink to photography, household items and more, you can discover a fantastic array of offers from across the Borough on the Council website.
