Shauna Mullan Makes Huge Effort For 'TinyLife'

“I didn’t see baby Haidin until he came home. It was a long seven weeks. We were all so delighted he made such great progress. We all decided to help TinyLife but with the new baby and commitments it did not happen right away. Months after, I decided to take on the fundraising. www.tinylife.org.uk “Michele and Darren now living in Kilkeel wanted to give something back to the hospital but found it difficult with their commitment to their young family. So I came to the rescue. Now I’m busy raising funds to go on a 60-mile  fundraising Cuba Trek which will take me  through picturesque rural Cuba over  five days. To get there I have to raise £2500 which is quite a lot of fundraising. It is a tough trek over the areas where tourists don’t tend to go.”

“> Down News caught up with Shauna at a pub quiz she organised at the Downpatrick Cricket Club. Already she has completed  a sponsored bag pack for Tiny Life and is determined to meet her goals. “When baby Haidin was born, only his parents and grandparents were allowed in to see him. The families do not generally get a chance to see the premature babies until they are home. They cannot see or touch the baby. So Michelle and Darren have already managed to raise £2000 for the hospital to buy photographic equipment so family members can enjoy a photograph of the new born babies. “I am looking forward to my Cuba trek next April which will be a big plus for TinyLife.” If you would like to support Shauna, go to the Facebook page http://www.facebook.com/trek4tinylife or visit the website at  www.tinylife.org.uk The Trek In Cuba The trek starts at the old World Heritage Site of Havana but once into the rural land it is a different world with undulating hills and idealic waterfalls. each day the group organised by Charity Challenge walks about 12 miles, travelling around six to seven hours a day. They will pass through fruit and coffee plantations and farms, visiting the beautiful Sierra del Escambray and finally reaching the beautiful city of Trinidad. Along the way the group will enjoy the sights of Cuba such as the historic Havana old quarter, views of the Escambray Mountains, and sample the Cuban food and hospitaity. Every step Shauna will be taking will be for TinyLife… and baby Haidin.]]>
