Along with face painting and a fancy dress competition there will be a sheep modelling competition and other fun activities for families taking place from noon to 5pm. Ronald McDonald House Charities is an independent charity which provides free ‘home away from home’ accommodation for families with children in hospital. There are currently 14 Ronald McDonald Houses across the UK and a facility at Musgrave park Hospital in Belfast. Last year, the Houses helped over 7,000 families stay close to their children in hospital. Des Lamph, Downpatrick McDonald’s franchisee said: “We are looking forward to a great day on Saturday and it’s the perfect way for families to finish off the mid-term break. I’m incredibly proud of all the work McDonald’s has done with Ronald McDonald House Charities for 25 years now. It’s fantastic that we’re able to promote and support the fantastic work that the Charity does to keep families together during difficult times.” www.rmhc.org.uk Since 1990, McDonald’s has raised just under £50 million for Ronald McDonald House Charities from in- store collection boxes and other restaurant based fundraising. McDonald’s also offers the charities organisational support by providing office space, general administrative support and IT computer systems and this support is estimated to have been worth over £2 million to the Charity since 1989.
