Sharvin Calls For Ballynoe Speed Calming

SDLP Council candidate Gareth Sharvin has called for the Road Services to put in place speed calming measures on the Ballynoe Road, Downpatrick.

Gareth said, “With the summer fast approaching, there will be an increase in traffic in the area, particularly with members using the facilities at the gaelic pitch. Local residents and members of the Club are concerned about the speed of cars on the Ballynoe Road and the danger this causes to youths and families using the Bright Gaelic Pitch.

I believe the Roads Service need to implement speed calming measures to protect the people using the facilities and ensuring that their safety is a top priority.

“I have also urged the Road Services to review the speed limit that is currently in place for the Ballynoe Road and also to consider other measures such as high friction surfacing or speed cushions,” he said.
