Shannon Reports on Faith-Group European Funding Meeting
Jim Shannon MP for Strangford along with MEP Diane Dodds introduced the new signpost to Funding for Churches and faith-based organisations in the Strangford constituency.
Mr Shannon said: “I had previously carried out a community funding seminar again ran by Diane Dodds and at that time Diane had told me that she felt that Churches needed more encouragement to tap into funding that is available for the great work that they do within the community. A packed hall representing a large numbers of churches in Strangford were there to hear how they can draw down funding for their church and youth groups.
“I will have the contact book with all the organisations with phone numbers who will be able to help. The book is ordered and will soon be available in the office. Whether the funding be for Capital Grants for listed buildings, work in overseas aid programmes or youth exchanges. There are hundreds of groups that can give grants from £500 to £1 Million and depending on the project that you have in mind.
“There will shortly be training classes whereby you can have assistance to fill in applications forms and there is nothing that helps more than preparation before applying. There are tips for writing letters to Trusts or funders and this help could make a real difference to churches to enable them to offer greater facilities to the community. This booklet is quite simply what you need to source funding – if you need help – contact our local DUP offices and get the help that you need.”
