Shannon Condemns Ballynahinch Knife Attack

Strangford MP Jim Shannon has spoken out against the knife attack in Ballynahinch last weekend.

He said: “When I heard the news I was horrified, xa0especially since those involved were so young. Knife crime can never be acceptable and I am glad to learn that the police have already made arrests in connection with this.

“I hope that those attacked continue to recover well. I would again reiterate that there can never be cause to use a knife in a fight – this will not be tolerated and those thinking that they need to bring a knife out with them for protection must understand that this will never be acceptible if trouble occurs.

“If you bring the knife out with you then you are asking for trouble. If you are with someone who has brought a knife, my advice is to leave the situation. A night out with your friends should be a fun night, not one that could lead to a possible prison stint. Make the right choice and help your friends to do likewise.”
