Sewerage Upgrade Work Underway In Millisle

NI Water have announced that work on a £1m project to upgrade the sewerage infrastructure and a key pumping station in Millisle has commenced.

dn_screenThis work will improve the sewerage network in the area and will provide additional storage capacity, particularly during periods of heavy rainfall. It is anticipated that the overall programme of work will continue until summer 2016. The project, when complete, will significantly reduce the risk of out-of-sewer flooding and will also reduce spills to the bathing waters, and fully meet EU Bathing Water Requirements.

This project will involve the construction of an underground pumping station in the car park /seafront area of Millisle, adjacent to Ballycopeland and Millisle Presbyterian Church.

Customers may notice a slight increase in construction traffic and noise in the area between the hours of 7:30am and 6:00pm. Some existing footpaths will be closed during the construction work, although alternative temporary arrangements have been put in place. Alongside our Contractor, BSG Civil Engineering Ltd, NI Water will make every effort to keep disruption to a minimum and would like to assure customers that we will do everything we can to complete the work as quickly as possible.

NI Water would like to thank the public for their patience and co-operation while this essential work is completed. Customer queries should be directed to Waterline on: 08457 440088, quoting our contract reference: KS930 Millisle DAP: Stage 2 Phase 2.
