SERC 2019 Students Celebrate Achievements


SERC Celebrate Class of 2019.

Higher Education students from South Eastern Regional College (SERC) joined with family and friends to celebrate their efforts and academic achievements at the annual graduation ceremony which honoured over seven hundred, (700) full-time and part-time students at Belfast’s Waterfront Hall recently.

Over 40 students achieved Level 4 Awards in Modern Languages (French, Italian and Spanish) undertaken at Downpatrick, Bangor and Lisburn Campuses.

Pearce McFall (Newtownabbey) who graduated with an HND in Performing Arts gave the student Vote of Thanks in which he encouraged his fellow students to enjoy the day in recognition of their success and thanked parents, family, friends and of course, lecturers, for helping them achieve their qualifications.

Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Children’s Care, Learning and Development (Management) graduates from SERC Downpatrick Campus (l-r) Sylvia Turner (Newcastle), Maria Fox (Belfast), Ann Mills (Drumaroad), Nicola McCracken (Dromore), Lucy Marshall (Saintfield), Kirsty Kennedy (Lisburn), Ciara Hegarty (Downpatrick), Orela Curran (Loughinisland) and Jenna Lynch (Hilltown) celebrate their success.

Ken Webb, Principal and Chief Executive of SERC, said: “Graduation marks an important day in the lives of the hundreds of Higher Education students. I congratulate every student on their success. 

“You have worked hard and today is evidence of your commitment to your chosen career paths.  I wish you continued future success. Never stop learning and striving to better yourselves.”

Daune Allen (Portaferry) and Maggie Townsley (Bangor) graduated from the Level 5 Early Years., Childcare and Management.

Twelve students received excellence awards in recognition of their commitment to learning and training.  The College’s prestigious Ishihara Award was presented to Jonathan McGregor (Dromara), Ulster University Foundation Degree in Mechatronic Engineering and Joseph Totton (Bangor), HND in General Engineering.

Andrew Mulholland (Ballynahinch) graduated with a Foundation Degree in Mechatronic Engineering with parents Ruth and Michael and girlfriend Ruth.

Dillon Morgan (Downpatrick) graduated with a C&G Level 4 Diploma in the Principles of Hospitality Management with cousin Monica Sloan.
