Downpatrick is the home of the infamous M&S Love Sausage
The iconic M&S Love Sausage is back and hitting the shelves once again just in time for Valentine’s Day.
Developed by long-term local M&S supplier, Finnebrogue Artisan, the original meaty delight is back by popular demand alongside a whole host of love-themed treats.
The original heart-shaped Love Sausage – a delicious outdoor-bred pork sausage with a hint of truffle, wrapped in smoked bacon – became a viral hit when it was first unveiled in 2019 and has been met with similar fanfare ever since.
Nicola Finlay, Regional Manager for M&S in Northern Ireland said: “Sourcing locally is important to us. Over the past year, M&S has been sourcing more Northern Irish products than ever before. We are passionate about high-quality, locally sourced and affordable products.
“The M&S Love Sausage is a real success story for Downpatrick’s Finnebrogue Artisan. It has truly captured hearts on both sides of the Irish Sea! Finnebrogue has been supplying to M&S for almost 20 years and we are delighted to continue the relationship.”
Councillor Patrick Brown of Newry, Mourne and Down District Council said: “As a representative of the District I am extremely proud to be from Downpatrick, the home of the M&S Love Sausage
“Finnebrogue Artisan is renowned for producing innovative, high quality, local produce and the Love Sausage is prime example of just that.”
Alongside the Love Sausage, M&S has introduced a whole host of Valentine’s Day themed gifts, treats and savoury dishes, including deliciously light and moreish D’Éclair My Love eclairs, pork, and beef ragu filled Love Heart Ravioli, and a Date Night Share-cuterie Grazing Box complete with cheese, heart-shaped chorizo and a chorizo rose centre.
