St Patrick’s GAC Saul – Club Notes November 18th 2013 Many thanks to the club members who were able to attend the funeral of our late club President, Eddie McGrady last week. Eddie was an integral part of our club for many years and his wise counsel will be sorely missed. The Commitee and members express our sincere condolences to Paula, Jerome, Conaill and the extended family. Round The Griddle 10K race and 5K family walk is on this Sunday 24 November starting at 12pm from St Patrick’s Primary School as the hall is out of use until the renovations are complete. Race can be entered online via Athletics NI website. A 10k walk is also available and will start at 11am.dn_screen There will be a local emergency service challenge in aid of the Declan McMullan fund, with Police, Fire and Ambulance services aiming to complete the event in their operational kit. Hopefully we’ll not need their colleagues to come to their aid! Donations can be made on the day. If you are available to assist with stewarding, please contact us this week as we need many more volunteers to ensure the safety of all competitors. All stewards and helpers should be at the school by 11am. Any donations of cakes, buns, etc can also be dropped off at the school from 11am. St Michael’s Hall in Finnis was the venue for this years East Down Scór na nÓg Final. Saul returned home with two East Down Titles for Scór na nÓg 2014. Well done to Conor McVeigh who performed a fantastic Frank O’Connor’s “First Confession” in Recitation. The Ballad Group (Aisling Murphy,Aoife McKibbinClaire CurranKatelyn Denvir and Taylor Murnin) commanded an audience who could hear a pin drop. Also representing Saul in Solo Singing was Aisling Murphy who sang beautifully. Keep up the good work folks! We’re very proud of you all!! The County Down Scór na nÓg Final for 2014 is in St Patrick’s Grammar School, Downpatrick, next Sunday 24th Nov at 4pm. Come and cheer all the Saul competitors on! There will be no session in the Club on Sunday 24th November due to the County Down Scór na nÓg Final, but come along and support instead. If you are interested in sessions please contact Angela on 07955925926 or saulgac.culture@hotmail.com. The club AGM is on Sunday 8 December at 3pm. This is a chance for everyone to see what the club has achieved in 2013, but also to lay the foundations for 2014. If you would like to be involved in any way with our club next year, we would appeal to you to get along to this meeting and see just how you can help. There is always something for everyone! Club merchandise/kit is now only available via McCartan’s Sports in Downpatrick. Christmas orders should be placed early this week to ensure delivery pre Christmas. Jerseys can not be ordered until New Year St Patrick’s Primary School are holding their annual Christmas Fayre in the school on Saturday 30th November from 11am-4pm. Along with the usual stalls there will also be pony rides, tombola, hot food and Santa arrives in his grotto at 12:30. There is still some space available if you would like to have a stall, just contact the school at 44614145. Our club dinner dance was postponed last week. The new date for your diaries is Saturday 1 February 2014 in the Burrendale. Tickets will be available after Christmas.]]>
