Ruane Welcomes Rathfriland Traffic Proposals

SINN Féin South Down MLA Caitriona Ruane has welcomed the latest proposals for traffic management in Rathfriland town centre. Ms Ruane stated, “I welcome the latest proposals from the DRD Road Service to create designated parking bays for the Church Square, Main Street and Caddell’s Lane in Rathfriland. “It is important for traders that we have a manageable traffic parking system that allows people to park long enough to get heir business done without blocking up the space on a day long basis. “It is also important that residents especially the elderly and disabled, in the adjacent streets are able to park close to their home and I have been working with the DRD Road Service to ensure that happen. “These proposals will allow for traffic to be able to park in the town centre for up to two hours and at the same time allow for the residents in the area to be able to park close to their homes. “I will continue to work with the DRD Road Service to ensure that once implemented that this scheme meets the needs of both the residential and commercial community in Rathfriland,” added Ms Ruane. ]]>
