The sun came out for this league encounter played at Dunleath and it was the visitors who started brightly. Within the opening two minutes Dundrum had two sightings of goal when first Dundrum. (Report by Cyril McKinney.)

Andrew Smyth was set free down the left and with only the keeper to beat put his low shot past the far post as Annett in the Rossglass goal narrowed the angle and then Fitzpatrick was high and wide from the edge of the box.

Rossglass then seemed to settle into the game and Eppleston tested Mcgreevy in the Dundrum nets with a snap shot but the keeper did well and Burke could not convert the rebound on 10 minutes.

Minutes later Toner got on the end of long free kick from midfield and his header seemed to be heading to the top corner, but again McGreevy was alert and tipped the ball over for a corner.

As the half developed Dundrum began dominating things and Glavin was wide from the edge of the box on 12 minutes before Travers was wasteful from distance on 24minutes

Both sides were competing for every ball and closing down the opposition with intent but Dundrum’s Noel Travers saw red on 35 minutes when he was brought down by Toner and was adjudged to have kicked out in retaliation and left the referee with no choice but to issue a straight red card.

In the opening exchanges of the second half both sides largely cancelled each other out with both defences on top.

The deadlock was broken finally by some quality play down the Rossglass left wing on 65 minutes when substitute Shane Rea’s surging run and cross was instinctively despatched to the net by Eppleston 8 yards out giving McGreevy no chance.

Dundrum pressed forward looking for a quick response but the Rossglass rearguard of Denver, Teggart and Waterson plus the veteran Mageean all stood up to the task firmly to protect their lead.

On 79 minutes Rossglass made the points safe when Marc Burke took advantage of an early ball played from the back.

He made a surging run through the centre of the park and encouraged by his manager and father Ollie to shoot. he drilled a low shot past the despairing dive of McGreevy in the Dundrum nets from the edge of the box.

Overall Rossglass deserved this win but Dundrum were well in the game until the sending off before half-time, and with more composure had chances at 1-0 to even things up.

Two quality finishes from Eppleston and Burke and a fine defensive display were enough for Rossglass to take the points.
