Rogers Welcomes Henderson Group Initiative To Provide 300 Defribrilators At Stores

dn_screenSouth Down MLA Seán Rogers has congratulated the Henderson Group, owners of Spar, Euro Spar and Vivo on their announcement of a project that could see over 300 Automated External Defibrillators (AED’S) installed at their stores.

Mr Rogers said: “ This is an exemplary example of a business stepping up and proactively embracing its social responsibility”.

It has been reported that the defibrillator will be situated outside the stores and made available for public use throughout 2016. The project which has received the full support from Dr Michael McBride, Northern Ireland’s Chief Medical Officer will be funded via community and store fundraising aiming for £1,500 to purchase the product, its temperature controlled cabinet and installation.

Mr Rogers concluded said: “ I would encourage everyone to give generously to this campaign as it has the real potential to save lives. I would further call on other businesses to take note of this imaginative scheme and consider if it could be replicated”.
