Robert Bradford celebrates 50 years dedicated service with Nitronica this month.

Robert began his career in Nitronica 16 August 1965. Throughout his time with the company, Robert has progressed through various different roles. His current role is Systems Manager, and Robert plays a vital part in the day-to-day operations of the 53,000ft² manufacturing facility, a challenging position even in the smallest of organisations.

In the 50 years at Nitronica, Robert has seen many advances in technologies. He said: “It is these challenges which keep him young. My time at Nitronica has flown by and I’ve made many acquaintances and friendships throughout my career. Every day is different and for these reasons, I have no intentions of retiring any time soon.”

A presentation took place at the Ballynahinch factory Friday 14 August to commemorate Roberts’s achievement.

He added: “I am very privileged to still be part of the technology change and find it a fascinating challenge each day. As Systems Manager my role is keeping the company’s computers and communications systems running and also adapting to a rapidly changing world.

“Over the years I have worked with and known hundreds of fellow workers and have made many good friends working in Ballynahinch. Some of those people have sadly passed on but the factory always was and is still continuing to be a close community of which I am proud to be a small part of, and health permitting will still be working here for many years to come.”

John Mellon, Managing Director, said: “It’s an incredible achievement to have racked up 50 years’ service in one company, but to those of us who have had the privilege of working with and getting to know Bob at any stage throughout those 50 years, it comes as no surprise that he is the one who has achieved it.

“From his early days with Plessey right through the boom and bust periods of the intervening years to today, Bob has always carried out his duties with the utmost professionalism and dedication many times doing so well beyond the call of duty. But more importantly, Bob is a genuine people person and always has a smile and a joke for everyone who comes into his office no matter what pressure he may be under to keep our systems up and running.

“From all your colleagues, Bob, past, present and even future – congratulations on a very rare achievement and here’s to the next fifty”.
