Rice Concerned About Rural Road Potholes

Sinn Féin Councillor John Rice has urged the Department for Infrastructure
to repair potholes and road edging on rural Roads.

Cllr John Rice concerned about the number of potholes on local rural roads.

Speaking after viewing a particularly deep and dangerous pothole on the Cauley’s Pipe Road at Ballywillwill, the Slieve Croob representative said: “The issues of potholes has been raised with me by a number of people and motorists in areas including Clonvarghan. Leitrim and Auglisnafin.

“The ability to maintain our road network as well as gully cleaning and street lighting maintenance have all been affected by Tory cuts to the North’s budget.

“The growing number of potholes on our roads and the length of time it is taking for them to be repaired in some instances is visual evidence of that.

“I would encourage anyone who is aware of a potentially dangerous pothole, or if your vehicle has been damaged by potholes, to take a picture and report it to the Department for Infrastructure.

“I will be following up the matter with the Department to ensure that these repairs are dealt with as quickly as possible.”
