RGU Notes

Top story this week are the U-21 footballers from RGU and Saul. Congratulations to Naoimh Padraig on deservedly winning the All County B Title. Played at Hilltown in very windy conditions the guys came back from being 7 points down at the break to beat favourites, Burren. Final score Naoimh Padraig 2-13, Burren 2-10. Well done everyone. Mith Sibh a Bhuachaillí (writes John Murphy).

The Big Breakfast for the Ryan Doyle fund was great success this morning down at the clubhouse. Thank you to all who attended and contributed. It is much appreciated. Once we have all monies in we will let you know how much was raised, but already it will be over a thousand pound which is absolutely brilliant. Special mention to those members who worked away in the kitchen and served food. We are always grateful for the people we have in this club, some folk never fail to help the club out and we thank them very much.

County Draw tickets are now available. We would like, if possible, for every family with a member in the club to purchase a ticket. 80% of the proceeds are returned to RGU club funds, so it is an excellent way of supporting the development of the club along with the chance of winning some fabulous prizes every month. Contact Marty Brady or any other of the Executive members if you wish to buy one.

All players from minor level downwards are reminded that they will have to wear a mouthguard next year for matches and training. There are different types available with more details on our Facebook page.

The RGU U-13 handballers competing for the Red High carried the flag for Down at the Ulster Schools Handball at St Ciaran’s, Ballygawley. After 6 matches in the One-Wall format the boys came second in their group, just missing out on a place in the final. This was a great performance, especially as the boys are still underage for next year. Well done Ronan, Tim, Ryan and Ruairi.
