EVERYONE at RGU would like to express their sympathy to the family and friends of Ryan Doyle, a member of Liatriom GAC, in this very difficult time. Fundraising is underway to help bring Ryan home and we would encourage all our members to help out. Ar dheis de go raibh a anam dilis.

We would like to thank Paul Evans for his time and efforts with the Senior team this season. Paul stepped in at short notice earlier in the year and we are grateful for the way that he led the squad through their first season back in Division 1. Paul has indicated that he will not available next year for the Senior team, but he will not be lost to the Club as his talents will be fully utilised by the underage teams under his care.

The Executive Committee are proposing to utilise the new Down GAA Clubs Draw 2012 to raise a minimum of £10,000 towards operational Club funding. This draw has just been launched and will commence in January 2012 for twelve months. The Draw will have a prize fund of £110,000. Each month, for twelve months commencing January 2012, there will be a prize of £5,000, comprising one £2,000 prize and three prizes of £1,000 each. The Executive Committee would like to encourage each family membership or single adult member to participate in the Down GAA Club Draw 2011 at a monthly cost of £10 via standing order or an annual cost £120. This participation will be key to securing adequate operational funding for club activities for all members. Please contact any member of the Executive if you wish to purchase a ticket. See for further details.

An Official GAA Rule passed this year at the Annual Congress – will be mandatory to use a mouthguard in all GAA football matches and training sessions from January 1st 2013 (for all age grades up to and including minor) and at U-21 and Adult level from January 1st 2014. Please see Facebook page for further details of the different types available.

Well done to Aoife Barnes, Colleen McNeilly and Brittany Hogan who attended U-13 and U-15 Ladies Development trials for the past 6 weeks which culminated in a provincial blitz at Cookstown on Saturday. First trials for the 2013 Down Ladies U14 squad will take place on 2 Dec 2012 in Annesborough at 9.30am. Good luck to all attending.

U-21’s play their final match tonight, Wednesday, against Newry Shamrocks at PTR under the lights.

U-12 Boys enjoyed an afternoon at Formula Kart in Newry on Sunday. Thankfully none of them will be behind a proper wheel for a few years yet!!
