RGU Club Notes For 25 January 2014

Many thanks to all who came down to the club on Saturday afternoon to show their support for the Downe Hospital.

The RGU Executive Committee and members were saddened to hear of the death of Alexis Mullan, brother of Club President John Mullan. We would extend our sympathy to John and his family at this difficult time. A Mhuire Banrion na nGael giugh ar a hanamacha.

The Down Juvenile Handball Championships were played on Saval on Sunday morning. RGU winners were Tim Prenter in singles. RGU had winners in doubles Aodhan Di Brita/Odhran Cunningham U12, Ethan Breen/Tom Savage U-13, Eoin McMullen/Rhys Cunningham U14 and Cara McKervey/Eilis Murphy U13 Ladies. Hard luck to John McKeever, Tom McNeill and Sean Fitzsimmons who lost out in terrific matches. Well done to all players. They now join Ronan Murphy, Ryan Sterritt and Rachael McKeown in the Ulster Championships.

Well done to Shannon McCullough, Rachel McKeown, Ellis Murphy, Erin McAuley and Ciara Hanna who all performed admirably in their first match for Down U-14 Ladies against Louth this afternoon in Newry. Keep it going girls!

U-6’s back at Ballymote on Sat at 10.30am. The U-10 Boys, P5 & 6, are also back at 11.30am. Remember your pounds and water bottles and hope to see you all there.

Girl’s football training for P3-P7s will commence indoors at RGU clubhouse on Sat morning from 10-11am. All girls who are interested in playing football and joining in the fun and activities all year long are welcome. Don’t worry if you’ve never played before, come down and give it a go! No boots needed yet, just trainers and a bottle of water. Contact Edel on 07759418419 for more info.

RGU Ladies are back in action, training on Thur night and Saturday morning at 11.30 at RGU. We’re delighted to see familiar faces again, and we invite new players, age 15 and over. Contact Edel (07759 418 419) for further information.
