Resurfacing For Ards Town Centre

£165,000 resurfacing scheme in Newtownards Town Centre.

A £165,000 carriageway resurfacing scheme in Newtownards Town Centre will commence on Monday 13 May 2019.

Roads in the centre of Newtownards are to be resurfaced in May.

The resurfacing work will be carried out on Regent Street extending a distance of approximately 300 metres from the junction with Gibsons Lane to the junction with Church Street. Short tie-ins extending approximately 50metres into Church Street, Frederick Street and William Street will be included. The scheme will deliver significant improvements to both the structural integrity and surface of the road.

Due to the nature of the scheme it will be necessary to operate overnight road closures.

Regent Street and Church Street will be closed to through traffic from the junction with Gibsons Lane to the junction with Darragh Lane from 7.00pm to 6.00am on the following dates:

Monday 13 May to Friday 17 May:

Frederick Street will be closed to through traffic from its junction with Regent Street to its junction with Frederick Street roundabout from 7:00pm to 6:00am on the following dates:

Monday 13 May to Friday 17 May

William Street will be closed to through traffic from its junction with Regent Street to its junction with West Street from 7:00pm to 6:00am on the following dates:

Monday 13 May to Friday 17 May

There will be no closures on Friday, Saturday or Sunday nights.

Diversionary routes for through traffic approaching the roads affected by the closures will be clearly signed..

In order to help ensure the safety of road users and road workers the public is asked to comply with all temporary traffic restrictions and to drive with care when travelling through, or in the vicinity, of the works.

The Department has programmed the work and traffic management arrangements to minimise any inconvenience, however, drivers should expect some delays and are advised to leave additional time when planning any journeys.

Completion of the work by 17 May 2019 is dependent on favourable weather conditions, however, the Department will keep the public informed of any change
