Police Welcome Guilty Plea By La Mon Travel Operators

[caption id="attachment_36040" align="alignleft" width="300"]Down Area Commander Chief Inspector Deirdre Bones., Down Area Commander Chief Inspector Deirdre Bones.xa0[/caption] Detectives in C District investigating fraudulent activity at LA Mon Travel Agency in Downpatrick have welcomed guilty pleas by two individuals to over 80 counts of Fraud by Abuse of Position, Fraud by False Representation, following a court hearing yesterday (Thursday 19 April).

“This has been a long and protracted investigation since 2010 involving over 100 victims,” said Down Area Commander CI Deirdre Bones.xa0 “This guilty plea by both defendants is reflective of the exhaustive and painstaking investigation carried out by DI Harris, DS Eakin and their team and I congratulate them on their efforts.
“We can now bring and end to the investigation and hopefully some closure for the victims involved.”
Sentencing in the case is expected later in the year.
