Police Seize Cannabis Worth £40,000 On Street Value

Police in Newtownards have raided a cannabis factory and seized a large quantity of cannabis

Officers from the Police Service of Northern Ireland’s Bangor District Support Team recently conducted a search at a property in the North Street area of Newtownards. 

Police have seized cannabis with a street value of £40,000 in Newtownards.

A significant cannabis cultivation was located which included ventilation, hydroponic and lighting equipment as well as plants at various stages of growth. 

Staff from Northern Ireland Electricity assisted in making the property safe due to electricity being by-passed. 

During the search on Sunday afternoon, 24th March, the team seized suspected herbal cannabis with an approximate street value of £40,000.

A police spokesperson said: “We are actively committed to removing drugs from our streets and will proactively investigate and carry out searches to disrupt this activity and those involved in the drugs trade.”
