Police Attacked In Downpatrick While Dealing With A Sudden Death Incident

dn_screenFollowing an incident Downpatrick’s Ballymote area, PSNI Chief Inspector Gilian West has spoken out saying: “Some of my officers attended a sudden death in the Glebetown area of Downpatrick on Saturday night. This is an extremely difficult and sensitive call to attend for the officers involved obviously, and an extremely difficult and sad time for the family involved.

“Unfortunately, while my officers were dealing with this extremely sensitive call, they came under attack from a group of people who threw stones and other missiles at them. I would ask that anyone who knows who was involved in this attack to let police at Downpatrick know by ringing 101 or contact Crime Stoppers.

“It is totally unacceptable that a family who were trying to grieve in a dignified manner were subjected to having to witness this behaviour,” added xa0Chief Inspector West.
