A woman from Downpatrick is critically ill in hospital following an incident just before 1pm on Friday 2 December.
Police were alerted just before 1pm and an ambulance was rushed to the scene.
The woman, who has a young girl, is understood to be in a critical condition.
A man has been arrested and is currently in custody helping police in their inquiries.
