Police Appeal Ongoing After Dundrum Fire

Detectives in Newry are appealing for information following a suspected arson attack at Church Avenue in Dundrum in the early hours of Sunday, 24 December 2017.

xa0Detective Sergeant Mark Crothers said: “Officers received a report of a fire to the rear of houses at aroundxa000.30am.

The scene at the Dundrum fire last December.

“The fire, which is believed to have been started deliberately at a shed and then spread to nearby oil tanks, caused substantial damage and forced a number of residents to be evacuated from their homes for a time.

xa0“We would appeal to anyone who noticed any suspicious activity in the area, or who has any information which could help with our investigation, to contact detectives at Newry on 101 quoting reference number 49 of 24/12/17.

xa0Alternatively, information can also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 which is 100% anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime.
