Police Appeal For Two After Following Possible Hate Crime In Downpatrick

Police in Downpatrick are appealing for information following an incident in the town on June 1st.dn_screen

Sometime between 7.20pm and 7.40pm, a vehicle was stopped in traffic at the roundabout on the Belfast Road when a man and a woman got out of another vehicle and approached the car. The womman put her hand in the window of the car and attempted to take the keys and both her and the man shouted abuse at the driver.

It is believed the culprits were in a blue coloured Opel with a Republic of Ireland registration.

At this stage, police are treating the incident as a hate crime and would urge anyone who was in the area at the time and witnessed the incident or anyone with any other information to contact them at Downpatrick police station on the non-emergency number .

Alternatively, information can be given to the Crimestoppers charity anonymously by telephoning 0800 555 111.
