Police Appeal For Information Following Car Theft In Castlewellan

Police are appealing for witnesses after a number of incidents in Castlewellan last night, Thursday 22 September.

dn_screenAt around 11.30pm it was reported that a man was attempting to gain access to cars parked in the area of O’Donnell Heights. A short time later it was reported that a Renault scenic car had been stolen from O’Donnell Park.

The car was found shortly before midnight after it was involved in a damage only RTC on the Dublin Road in the town. A male seen in the area of the collision made off from police in the direction of Mourne Park where he attempted to force entry to two cars parked in the area.

Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incidents or anyone who has any information that can assist with the investigation to contact officers in Downpatrick Police Station on 101, quoting reference number 1449 of 22/09/16.
