Police seek witnesses or information on recent Newry burglaries

Detectives in Newry are appealing for information and witnesses following two recent burglaries in the local area.

Detective Sergeant Lewis said: “At around 1.50pm yesterday, Sunday 28th January, police received a report that a house in the Ballinlare Gardens area had been entered by a male seen acting suspiciously in the area.

“The suspect used a tool to damage the window and enter before making off. At this stage it is not believed anything was taken.



“Police then received a second report of a burglary in the Barcroft Park area of Newry on Sunday. It was reported that sometime between 2.15pm and 6.30pm that a man entered the house using a tool to damage the window, then rummaged through the house and left via a rear door.

“Enquiries are ongoing to establish if anything was taken during this incident.

“An investigation is underway into these reports and we are investigating a potential link.

“We are appealing to anyone who has any information about what happened, or who witnessed any suspicious activity in these areas at the time or with CCTV, doorbell or other footage that could assist our investigation, to call 101 and quote reference number 1367 of 28/01/24.”
